Aviously

Because, aviously…

It’s been 18 months since the first season, and Season 2 of Marco Polo finally rolled out this weekend.

With Season 1 I think I was forcing myself to like it at times, and unfortunately Season 2 is more of the same.

The fight scenes are incredible, the choreography perfect, and the scenic views are better than any other current TV show.

This season focuses on Kublai Khan facing a karutai and a vote for his seat, with traiters and connivers at every corner trying to overturn his reign.
His opponents include Lord Kaidu and the Christians led by the Pope who wants Kublai to back down.

Netflix/Hulu/Amazon exclusive shows, especially the ones released all at once, are supposed to be binge-worthy, and most of them are.
Marco Polo, while stunning, is not bingeable, the story is weak at times, and it just doesn’t have anything to pull someone in, enough for me to actually recommend it to people.

While yes, I will watch Season 3 (I get invested in shows and want to see them play out, regardless how good/bad they can get), Season 2 is a disappointing 6.5 out of 10.
