Aviously

Because, aviously…

When I first started really listening to music, it was 2004 and I fell for two of the hit songs of the year. Green Day’s Boulevard of Broken Dreams and the Numb/Encore collaboration of Linkin Park and Jay-Z.

Since then the two bands of Green Day and Linkin Park have been at the top of every playlist I create, and I can listen to any of their songs on repeat for hours on end.

Chester Bennington had the vocal cords to rip out iconic sounds, and it was the perfect compliment to Mike Shinoda’s lyrics and tone.

The lyrics he sang were some of the ones I’ve always felt closest to, and he will be missed.

Here are some of my favorite Linkin Park songs, in no particular order.

In The End

I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter

What I’ve Done

What I’ve done
I’ll face myself
To cross out what I’ve become
Erase myself
And let go of what I’ve done

One Step Closer

Everything you say to me
Takes me one step closer to the edge
And I’m about to break
I need a little room to breathe
Cause I’m one step closer to the edge
And I’m about to break

Points of Authority

You love the things I say I’ll do
The way I hurt myself again just to get back at you
You take away when I give in
My life, my pride is broken

Castle of Glass

Bring me home in a blinding dream,
Through the secrets that I have seen
Wash the sorrow from off my skin
And show me how to be whole again

One More Light

If they say
Who cares if one more light goes out?
In the sky of a million stars
It flickers, flickers
Who cares when someone’s time runs out?
If a moment is all we are
Or quicker, quicker
Who cares if one more light goes out?
Well I do

Numb/Encore

I’ve become so numb, I can’t feel you there
Become so tired, so much more aware
I’m becoming this, all I want to do
Is be more like me and be less like you
