Aviously

Because, aviously…

American Idol is approaching its 15th and final season. And while the early years had better outcomes, recent years haven’t been as strong. I decided to glance through the seasons and see who I liked and where they placed in their seasons.

Kelly Clarkson – Season 1 – Winner — Kelly took America by storm and made this show into an instant success, as they produced one of their strongest singers right off the bat, claiming the title of “The Original American Idol”.
First Original Song – “A Moment Like This”

Carrie Underwood – Season 4 – Winner — A record breaking country singer, who has already been inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, Carrie is another of America’s sweethearts, and her trophy cabinet is full, including a Golden Globe nomination.
First Original Song – “Inside Your Heaven”

Chris Daughtry – Season 5 – 4th Place — Daughtry may not have made it to the finals, but he certainly shown through, and went on to lead a band under his name. His groups first album was the fastest selling debut rock album.
First Original Song – “It’s Not Over”

Katharine McPhee – Season 5 – 2nd Place (Winner: Taylor Hicks) — McPhee has certainly made a name for herself since the AI days, becoming an actress in the TV show Scorpion, and the lead actress/singer in Smash.
First Original Song – “Over It”

Adam Lambert – Season 8 – 2nd Place (Winner: Kris Allen) — It took a while for him to grow on me, but his recent song of ‘Ghost Town’ has worked in winning me over. His brief time on Glee didn’t do anything for me though.
First Original Song – “No Boundaries”

Nick Fradiani – Season 14 – Winner — The most recent show winner, got his name out there as the Theme Song for the USWNT in their 2015 FIFA World Cup Championship run. We will see if he continues to rise.
First Original Song – “Beautiful Life”

Season 15 is certain to try its hardest in making a comeback, as recent seasons have generally flopped in the ratings (certainly compared to the earlier years). For the show to succeed they need a big bang in the last year, and lots of cameos from former “celebrity contestants” (I’m looking for you William Hung), as well as a solid winner that can launch a great career.
