Aviously

Because, aviously…

Movie trailers tend to have the best jokes in them, and often times spoil the best parts of the movie, or even use up all the humor.

Edge of Seventeen is not that movie. The trailer jokes are gotten out of the way in the first few minutes of the movie, and after that it takes a slow incline to a decent movie.

Nadine (Hailee Steinfeld) is a typical 17-year-old girl, living under the shadow of her brother, bullied at an early age by the other girls in school, ignored by boys, her dad dead when she was only 12, and when her one close friend betrays her trust, she doesn’t know where to turn.

But with a little help from her not so smart, slightly sarcastic teacher Max (played brilliantly by Woody Harrelson), Nadine tries to get her life back on track.
One of his pieces of advice to her?

Nadine. Maybe nobody likes you?

She faces the struggles that a lot of people find, not just in high school but throughout life, and pushes through the adversities.

Hi Nadine, wake up. You had a brain operation. It worked. It made you pleseant and agreeable. -Max

Spoiler free: The ending is enjoyable, and I really liked the comic towards the end!

This movie gets a decentĀ 8 out of 10.
